Greetings,

Thank you to all who attended our first meetup. I greatly enjoyed myself
and meeting every one of you. I appreciate how gracious everyone was.

The conversation was lively and interesting.
We talked about politics and political action, the war in Iraq, music and film, reasons for rape, and various experiences that the individuals in our group lived through, etc.
It was a pleasure to have both women and men contributing to the conversation.

I appreciated that people brought items to discuss. I was up late last night researching topics!

Remember to post items here to be discussed at our next meetup or simply bring them w/ you to the next meetup. Most of us agreed it will be helpful to have an idea of the topics or agenda before the meetup. It would be great to share a work of art at the meeting, too,
a film or music? All ideas are welcome.

We will meet again the first Sunday in May. So sorry Nikki will not be there! Thank you to
Kathia and Roy for offering their space for us to meet. If folks want to bring some food or
drink that would be nice. I will check w/ our hosts to see if that is ok.

I look forward to our next get together.

Thanks so much, Susan, for convening this group. I really enjoyed meeting everyone.

I'm down for anything for the next meeting. Kathia mentioned having a piece from the New Yorker she thought would make good fodder for discussion. I imagine there are some interesting anthologies of contemporary feminist writings reflecting multiple perspectives too. I am currently too busy for any serious "homework", but reading an article or essay and then discussing it at a meetup is very doable for me. I will keep my eye out for one next time I'm in a good book store. Just an idea.

With the same recognition about time constraints, I am also open to thinking about small, if important ways we can translate theory to practice and appreciated, for example, Todd's contribution about the pending Senate legislation on violence against women.

Yes, thank you, Susan, for your efforts in bringing everyone together!

True, I won't be at the meeting, but I am interested as well in the New Yorker article mentioned. As I am very involved in breast cancer awareness (in fact, I will be in DC supporting the 2-day walk there) and work in the health and wellness industry, I would think a future agenda item regarding healthcare would be interesting... especially in light of my newest work assignment involving bringing services to an "underdeveloped country."
