So what if people buy into it? People buy into oxgyen, sleeping, and eating? So what? Your response is lame. First of all, ?So what?? is not an argument--at least not after the 9th grade. And second of all, people "buy into" oxygen, sleeping and eating because it is CRITICAL to human survival! We couldn't exist if we didn't "buy into it." But that?s not the case with buying into some unrealistic, unattainable demand that women at all times be thin, tight, smooth, large-breasted, tight-bellied, perfectly-manicured, perfectly-smiling, and with a come fvck me look and attitude. Women buying into the belief that only THEN will they be deemed beautiful, acceptable, lovable is in fact COUNTER to our survival as a species. All this time and money and energy we expend pursuing our physical perfection keeps us from focusing on other things like: ~The fact that our world does not value the feminine at all, except in its sexual form. We are taught in lots of subtle and not-so-subtle ways from a very young age that our only worth is our sexual worth. And even that is controlled by and for the masculine. ~And when be believe that the only thing we are good for is making the boys? dicks hard, it becomes our life?s work trying to attain the unattainable so the boys will want us, leaving no time or inspiration to pursue the things we love to do, the things we are passionate about, that we are good at, the things that ultimately contribute to the world, not just the masculine libido. Denying and oppressing this whole other part of our existence, the feminine, is foolish if we wish to survive as a species. Kinda like refusing to breathe, sleep or eat? |

Well...unfortunately we live in a country (society) that is more concerned with who's going to be the next American Idol and who Paris Hilton is screwing instead of the out of control situation in Iraq and what the hell our government in the US is doing. We all have our priorities backwards and we worry about bullshit and not what NEEDS to be worrying about.
Too many people have a "So what?! I got MY Benz!" attitude and they don't care about anything else. |
